Walleye fishing vs salmon fishing
You might already know that walleye is a Friday night fish fry supper club favorite and that salmon is best smoked or in a sushi roll, but do you know the difference between the two when booking a fishing charter?

Door County has both walleye and salmon available to fish. But they both require different equipment and can be found in different places around the Bay so how do you know which fishing charter you should book when planing your next Door County Charter Fishing trip.
Salmon fishing charter
A salmon can weigh up to 30 pounds around the Bay of Green Bay which makes it a prized fish to catch! Not only can you feed nearly your whole neighborhood, you also get to enjoy the epic battle of reeling in a large salmon. The downside of salmon fishing charters in Door County is that the season is short. The salmon fishing season starts mid June and goes until mid September so salmon fishing charters fill up fast in Door County so it's best to book as early as possible, especially if you are trying to book a weekend charter.
Walleye fishing charter
Unlike salmon, walleye are caught, filled, and cooked in a cast iron skillet with garlic and butter all year round! They weigh an average of 3-5 pounds making them a great fish to reel in for both novice and more experienced fishers. Walleye tend to be found in deep dark waters and can be a little bit trickier to coax out and catch so if you are new to the Bay, booking a charter with an experienced fishing guide will increase your chances of reeling in enough walleye to feed your whole group.
